During our half-day ride, we’ll start at the trailhead in the morning for a four-hour backcountry adventure. While it’s only a half-day, you’ll still be able to fully connect with nature and be amazed by the stunning views and wildlife in the Flat Tops Wilderness.
This ride will lead you through water crossings, beautiful meadows, and incredible vistas. If you opt for a full-day trip, you can even enjoy a picnic lunch with us. Trust us, you won’t regret it!
Regardless of the season you choose to visit us, we recommend wearing pants for the practicality of horseback riding. Closed-toed shoes are ideal for a smoother ride as they are more suitable for the stirrups on the saddle and offer protection from potential hazards.
Weather can be unpredictable during your ride with us, from hot sun to mountain winds to sudden chills – sometimes all within an hour! Dressing in layers is the norm in Colorado, ensuring you are prepared for any weather conditions that may arise.
What if I've never ridden horses before?
That’s ok. We get that quite a bit. Our horses are very gentle and will provide for a comfortable ride on the trail.
How many guests are allowed on a trip?
We can cater up to 6 guests on a horseback trip.
What is the minimum age for kids to join a trip?
We find that the age of 7 is the average age a kid has the ability to sit on a horse.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing jeans or a heavier material pant for your time in the saddle. Pull up boots are ideal, especially cowboy boots, but not required. Some good sturdy footwear that will allow you to maintain your balance in the saddle. Also Layers! The weather can change throughout the day so you’ll want to make sure you are comfortable for all conditions. Please check the Weather Report before your trip.
Can I bring a backpack?
Yes, we recommend a lightweight backpack to carry your layers and essentials in. The maximum weight allowed in your pack will be 15 lbs. If meals are included on your trip the guides will handle that.
