BOOKING INFO:
Fly Fishing anywhere is fun, but there’s nothing quite like fly fishing in one of Colorado’s remote Flat Tops Wilderness. From the small streams to high alpine lakes, the fish are unpressured and the scenery is unbeatable.
The Flat Tops Wilderness offers a diverse range of fishing opportunities within its picturesque scenery. Anglers can opt for small stream fishing, explore alpine lakes, or visit beaver ponds. Each option presents its own set of techniques, advantages, challenges, and opportunities. In these waters, brookies and native cutthroats can be found taking advantage of abundant insect hatches that occur on the still waters during the summer months.
When venturing into the backcountry, it is important to be prepared for unpredictable weather conditions. Bringing extra layers will ensure a comfortable fishing experience. A day pack is necessary to carry you gear for an overnight camping trip. Please note that equipment is not provided, so be sure to bring your own gear. Stay informed by checking Fishing Reports for the latest information on what fish are biting. Don’t forget to pack your tent, sleeping bag, headlamp, sunscreen, polarized glasses, bug repellent, extra tippet/leaders and the essentials for an overnight stay in the backcountry. Max backpack weight is 15 lbs.
When is the best time to go fishing?
Good action on the White River starts around April and goes well into the fall and winter. That’s the beauty of fishing in Colorado. Guided trips scheduled are held rain or shine, however in the event of dangerous weather or non-fishable conditions, we will discuss rescheduling with you.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. You will need a fishing license to fish on the lakes or rivers. These can be purchased through Colorado Parks and Wildlife or at most sporting goods stores.
Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?
Yes you will have to bring your own fishing gear.
What if I've never ridden horses before?
That’s ok. We get that quite a bit. Our horses are very gentle and will provide for a comfortable ride on the trail.
How many guests are allowed on a trip?
We can cater up to 6 guests on a horseback trip.
Should I tip the guide?
Guide gratuity is not included as part of your payment, and is by no means mandatory. However, 20% is a very common tip percentage to give your guide at the end of the day. If you feel the guide exceeded expectations, more than 20% is always greatly appreciated.
Are meals Included?
Yes. Meals are included on the overnight fishing trips. Feel free to bring your own snacks in case you get hungry out on the water.
